Lightweight Steel LSF Modular Building Solutions

Our capacity to design and formulate architectural grandeur, is met by our professional design team and the most competent manufacturing teams. Duratruss extends its capabilities and capacity into the creation of stud and track solutions to deliver on and meet the housing needs in the South African country and the continent at large.

There is very little limitations as the system can be used for multi storey residential, commercial and industrial building. Both for internal and external walling and facade walls.

The Duratruss roofing Solution is now supported by the complete structural supply of the stud and track solution that is quick to manufacture, simpler to transport in bulk.

Easy assembly on site reduces the labour, time to complete mass projects.

Lightweight Steel Modern Building Method

Lightweight steel building has been around since the 1940s. The usage has steadily evoled and became the Modern Methods of Construction. It has been widely used in the construction sector for the construction of medium and high rise buildings.

Its is becoming a highly recognised building method due to its impact on the environment and the benefits to the end user.
The properties of light gauge steel are being utilised, not only as a cladding system but as a complete building product, replacing bricks and blocks with thin studs of steel fixed together to form non-load bearing or load bearing walls. Width and thickness vary from 40mm – 225 mm and thicknesses from 00.56mm to 3.2mm according to the load bearing or non-load bearing positioning within a structures interior or exterior segments.

The entire structure is then covered with a protective cover/cladding in a multitude of preferred finishes . The thermal insulation properties are quite superior to the traditional brick and mortar buildings.

Lightweight Steel has the best strength to weight ration compared to concrete.

  • 6 tons of steel performance is equal to an estimate 120 tons of concrete
  • Its light weight properties means less substantial foundations (depending on ground conditions
  • Its light weight characteristics also benefits the supply chain as it is less deliveries and in larger quantities
  • Manufacturing process workmenship delivers precision of +-0 to 2mm tolerance on the components
  • Lightweight steel building minimises traffic, wastage, labour and time spent constructing the buildings
  • Positive savings for developers and minimises impact on environment
  • Reduced cost for super structures compared to traditional building methods
  • Cheaper than traditional methods of building
  • Light gauge steel’s long roof and floor span capabilities also add to its diversity
  • Rooms can be changed around within the building by simply moving interior walls which do not require demolition as opposed to other methods. They can also be disassembled and reused or recycled unlike, for example, insulated concrete formwork walls
  • Exterior insulation helps improve loss of thermal conductivity
  • Well insulated structures reduce exposure to elements and improve the life span of the lightweight steel structure, compared to the wood frame and trusses that deteriorate over time and are affected by insects and a variety of animals.
  • Applications of double plaster board in staggered positions helps improve fire resistance
  • The metal attributes of the lightweight steel frames are unique and can be recycle and reused with out its quality decreasing
  • Unlike traditional forms of construction light gauge steel benefits from low waste, adaptability, off site manufacture, re-usability, recyclability and resource efficiency making it one of the most sustainable building methods available
